Muslim Youth Leader Calls for Safety After Ohio State Attack
American Muslim youth remain committed to helping foster safe and peaceful environments
The National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), Dr. Bilal Rana, has issued the following statement regarding today’s attack on the campus of Ohio State University
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the 9 victims who are being treated after this morning’s frightening attack on the Ohio State campus, as well as with the entire OSU student body. Islam instructs that education is every person’s right and responsibility, which is why our academic institutions must remain safe environments for our youth. Members of our student organization at OSU are among those who took shelter on campus during the lockdown while the suspect was still active. We are grateful to law enforcement who courageously and swiftly brought the situation under control and reinstated safety on campus. We are here to help in any way we can.”
The members of AMYA at Ohio State have confirmed the lockdown has ended and are grateful to be returning to the safety of their homes. AMYA remains committed to working with everyone to ensure the safety of this nation and its youth.
